Author Biography
Roddy Doyle was born in May 1958 in Dublin. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from University College, Dublin. He spent several years as an English and geography teacher before becoming a full-time writer in 1993. His novels include The Commitments (1987) which was made into a film in 1991, The Van (1991) which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1991 and Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha (1993) which won the Booker Prize in 1993. Roddy Doyle lives in Dublin.

Synopsis
It is 1968. Patrick Clarke is ten. He loves Geronimo, the Three Stooges, and the smell of his hot water bottle. He can’t stand his little brother Sinbad. His best friend is Kevin, and their names are all over Barrytown, written with sticks in wet cement. They play football, lepers, and jumping to the bottom of the sea. But why didn’t anyone help him when Charles Leavy had been trying to kill him? Paddy sees everything, but he understands less and less

93年布剋。用兒童語體完美呈現瞭十歲兒童眼中的世界。各種孩子們之間遊戲，惡作劇，學校生活。主人公在父母爭吵的陰影中成長。無中心無高潮純片段式敘事。但因為自己自己不是愛爾蘭人，大約共鳴也有限。有些孩童用語和當地俚語需要花時間去查意思。

评分開頭看的暈頭轉嚮，摸不清時序邏輯關係，男孩子的遊戲更是讓人眼花繚亂，有狂喜。越嚮後，故事越心酸，成長的痛感慢慢溢齣，一點點的紮進來。可與《芒果街上的小屋》做比較閱讀。
评分聽過AG的有聲書，雖然聽不懂，嗓音已經足夠迷人。
