精彩之处确实精彩，对区域研究，种族/文化研究，比较文学的学科逻辑的整理和评判言简意繁。不是“不讲人话”，是预设了大量读者层面的知识，尤其一些关键词的复杂语义。问题在于：所有姿态(“to come” anteriority), 仅仅是一种对不可能的想象。理论界容许激进的程度有限，而革命发生的场所绝不仅仅是大学课堂。标题起得夺目，但这门旧学科死了吗？Planetarity仅仅是对globalization字面上的取缔吗？比较文学是孤芳自赏的兼济天下。The question “How many are we?” when cultural origin is detranscendentalized into fiction—the toughest task in the diaspora.

In this new book she declares the death of comparative literature as we know it and sounds an urgent call for a "new comparative literature," in which the discipline is given new life -- one that is not appropriated and determined by the market. In the era of globalization, when mammoth projects of world literature in translation are being undertaken in the United States, how can we protect the multiplicity of languages and literatures at the university? Spivak demonstrates how critics interested in social justice should pay close attention to literary form and offers new interpretations of classics such as Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own. Through close readings of texts not only in English, French, and German but also in Arabic and Bengali, Spivak practices what she preaches.
