The famed Russian Jewish painter Marc Chagall executed a series of etchings along Biblical themes illustrating the Old Testament between 1925 and 1939. They are reproduced here in this handsome gift volume and combined with the poetry of the King James version of the Old Testament text. Chagall is renowned for his surrealistic inventiveness that combines memory, Jewish folklore, and fantasy and is recognized as one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century. This is the first time his Old Testament etchings have appeared in print alongside the original verses.
