1.纳粹是abomination，不管德棍怎么洗，这事实改变不了；2. 作者总体客观，尽管对德国人民有不公平的偏见，尤其是结尾简直打脸，如今维护世界和平主要力量之一的就是德国，美国却不在此列；3. 希特勒厉害在他过人的毅力，政治眼光和演讲才能，军事才能并不十分优秀；4. 21世纪和一战及二战前夕像极了，再次证明纳粹上台和战争的爆发的原因都是因为人类“狗改不了吃屎”。最后，这是一本不可多得的好书，强推！

10颗星。Long read - so many details have fascinated and shuddered me - 以前没理由葱白过的黑格尔和卡莱尔竟然和third reich有那么微妙的关系; “bad guys”里，隆美尔和Ciano最后的命运如此让人感叹...有时间了想读Ciano Diaries! No chapter lacks surprising turns, even till the last moment - yet you still see the inevitability of history.

Hilter is a piece of work, in good way and in bad way. O fortuna!

What a history! Although some will differ against the author's "nature of a nation" approach, nevertheless this is a detailed history into some of the most intriguing part of that era. The profiles of the characters in the book are especially vivid and alive, while the humanist view of the history by the author is also memorable.

I read this book intermittently in two weeks. The stories of the second world war has always been fascinating for me, even a book as long as this one is. Under world wars, things are changing so rapidly that nothing is impossible. Sometimes, they're just as...  

希特勒就是合法地上台，但是上台后他的许多政策都得到了人民的支持。在建立独裁制度时，曾经有全民选举，对纳粹党的赞成票高达80-90%。并且，除了少数人以外，无论什么阶层：大地主和大资产阶级、军队、保守派、知识份子、工人阶级都支持了希特勒。希特勒就是先利诱、欺骗...  

前半段印象深刻，只是许多分析观点带有明显的偏见，作为战争经历者，所处的位置不可避免的造成一些观点的局限性。战争部分笼统的只能以糟糕来形容，也是作者过于依赖外交文件与内政记录再加一些零星的作者见闻而下结论的弊端，我觉得许多德国人战后写的书也比这美国人写的客观...
