In The Art of Scientific Investigation, originally published in 1950, W.I.B. Beveridge explores the development of the intuitive side in scientists. The author's object is to show how the minds of humans can best be harnessed to the processes of scientific discovery. This book therefore centers on the "human factor"; the individual scientist. The book reveals the basic principles and mental techniques that are common to most types of investigation. 單純從要點上說，本書說瞭前期工作、實驗的過程的技術所需和心理所需。如果非要擴展地讀，本書可以當作科學軼事讀本，而且很多語言用在分析性寫作上挺不錯的。

评分It is truthful and profound, pointing out *the way* and generic principle of science. Though it comes from bio community, I still find it largely helpful to computer system research. After all, ever since renaissance, the fundamental of experimental science has been developed well by those great thinkers and researchers (e.g., Bacon, Kant..)
