读的是我爸留下来的商务印书馆1981引进的本子。善恶有报、其乐融融的乡村童话。很喜欢作者一针见血又温和含笑的口吻，但女性人物反而没有Marner和Godfrey立体，18岁的Eppie仍然和那个两岁的cherub没什么分别。另外，读了一半才发现sat从这里出过阅读，大大拉低阅读体验

陋见：道德味道比较浓，貌似善恶必有报，对穷苦大众的描述比较理想化，但道德与宗教可以分离。对宗教的审视不如哈代严苛。引一句：there is no just. God that governs the earth righteously, but a God of lies, that bears witness against the innocent.

一切都太顺理成章了，像是合家欢的贺岁片。尽管情节安排很精妙，但也不乏loose ends。整本小说显得平淡无奇，反倒是Priscilla登场的几句台词比较值得注意。
