GE的優點是總有那麼幾句話說到你的心裏去，境遇的轉換，人與人之間的誤解，人與自己的掙紮和和解，都是大部分人會經曆的，她寫齣來讓你覺得真的就是那麼迴事，但GE的短闆就在於她自己想要擺脫女性作傢標簽所做的過分的敘事努力。難怪迷弟James對她書中的女性有那麼多不滿。

雖然有些俚語看得我%^&(，但是還是很高興看完這本情節簡單，人物鮮明的故事。George Eliot嚮我們證明瞭，故事的情節也許並非首要，關鍵是你如何Unveil它，你如何interpret它。Eppie如同對人性的救贖，是隱匿的希望

讀的是我爸留下來的商務印書館1981引進的本子。善惡有報、其樂融融的鄉村童話。很喜歡作者一針見血又溫和含笑的口吻，但女性人物反而沒有Marner和Godfrey立體，18歲的Eppie仍然和那個兩歲的cherub沒什麼分彆。另外，讀瞭一半纔發現sat從這裏齣過閱讀，大大拉低閱讀體驗
