對多種史料的收集始終是Dower書一大特色，讀來耳目一新。但他沒有給齣戰後日本人為何能廣泛接受美國在政治、經濟、意識形態方麵的領導的根源。另外《金閣寺》中也有討論戰後對美心態的部分，很微妙。

本意是當文獻跳著翻，卻總不自覺地連看一兩章。好多處讀到emotional。可惜不是每一次的學術閱讀都像這樣愉悅。
