评分最后一节Stavrogin的“忏悔书”太过震撼，Father Tikhon建议他做一elder学徒时，自动想起BK的Alyosha，心中一紧。S最终没有公布罪行，以“自杀”阻止了自己。他选择上吊，和那小女孩同样的方式，罪与罚，这是S的主题。上帝会原谅你的，就算你自己不原谅自己。
