Sharon Zukin, professor of sociology at Brooklyn College and the Graduate School, City University of New York. Author of< Loft Living: Culture and Capital in Urban Change> and the forthcoming <American Market/Place: Landscapes of Economic Power>, she has spend 1989-90 at the Russell Sage Foundation, working on a book on Jewish-Americans and African-Americans, She is a senior editor of the Journal <theory and Society>
Paul Dimaggio, associate Professor of sociology at Yale University. He is the editor of <Nonprofit Enterprise in the Arts:Studies in Mission and Constraint>, and is currently completing a senior editor of the journal <Theory and Society> and a 1990 John Simon Guggenhein Memorial Foundation Fellow.
Provides a critical overview of the new economic sociology. Sections of the book are devoted to advances in theory, the study of business organization, finance capital, entrepreneurship and capitalist states. The book looks at the economic influence of multiple forms of social organizations.
