楊傳緯，英語教授，1952年畢業於北京大學。1984—1989年曾任北京師範學院（首都師範大學前身）院長。1987年獲美國紐約州立大學名譽博士學位。譯著有：《教授與瘋子》、《OED的故事》、《夜晚的書齋》、《書趣》、《閑話大小事》、《舊書重溫憶華年》、《堅韌剛毅》等。
