在The Poet之前讀的這本，被劇透瞭一臉……一如既往Connelly的水準之作，於不可能處發現綫索並展開劇情。特彆強烈的一點閱讀感受就是FBI really sucks and is painful to work with，開始有點理解為什麼很多人對James Comey不屑一顧。而41章內的一個莫名其妙的敘述人稱轉換（從之前的第一人稱突然轉為第三人稱又悄悄轉迴來），不知道是不是作者埋的一個小彩蛋，呼應之前Bosch與Ed妻子通話，開始時自稱Bill Gilbert、結束時口誤為Tom Gilbert

ch45,#5335,100%. Bosch's 10。第一部以博斯的第一人稱展開敘述的小說。兩條綫索，一條是Rachel Walling,延續著The poet，第三人稱；一條是Bosch，第一人稱，從調查Terry McCaleb的死亡開始。一個LAPD的退休警探，一個被列為observer的FBI探員，由於對Backus的執念，兩人聯手推進調查。 ch17到ch20，兩條綫索第一次交匯瞭。 Bosch憑著死磕的勁頭除掉瞭Backus，也要和Walling開始一段戀情。
