Good edition on some famous debate about the twentieth-century art on the relationship between aesthetics, ethics and politics.

本書由西馬主要人物之間的四個“論戰”構成，plus詹姆遜的概括性總結。從布洛赫和盧卡奇關於文學作品中expressionism與realism之爭開始，到後期阿多諾對盧卡奇馬剋思主義中未消泯的觀念主義的批判為止。正如詹姆遜所總結，這場爭論的內生性的推動力（internal dynamism）使得其超越錶現主義的本原現象...etc. 文章由不同的譯者完成，文本的流暢程度參差不齊。順便值得一提的是各爭論的序言很全麵透徹，不過書中沒有標明作者（大概也是詹姆遜著筆吧）。
