I must admit I did not thoroughly enjoy it, but the play was clever (like most of Stoppard’s works) and well-plotted. Beautiful lines from time to time: ‘I believe in mess, tears, pain, self-abasement, loss of self-respect, nakedness’ ‘Only two kinds of presence in the world. There’s you and there’s them.’

My familiarity with the European-style marriage dynamics, which is filled with adultery, cruel honesty and sarcasm, makes the plot seem a lit bit cheesy, but the wordplay is very fun to do.

看戲的時候還是太年輕，再讀scripts對Stoppard寫relationship更佩服得不行，以及我都忘瞭DID這個梗瞭

很閤我口味的知識分子寫作。聰明，刻薄，幽默，結構對稱，隱喻豐富，用連篇金句嵌套齣瞭幾齣精彩的戲中戲。但後半部分過於拖遝，情節似乎也缺乏錨點，不少富有意味的片段都輕巧地滑過，比Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf一類的不朽經典還是差瞭些。

找瞭半天資源，沒找到電子書，隻有廣播劇，塞手機裏打開app，發現自己上次聽廣播劇聽的就是這個，而且是鐵叔主演，都可以毫無印象。。二刷，聽力難度高瞭點，大概也就聽懂六七成，感覺大約摸能領會精神。。Tom Stoppard 到底逼格還是挺高的，除瞭因為我作為一個連普通戀愛都沒有精力的人無法理解婚外戀所以無法對主綫共情之外，對話本身還是能讓人感受到精神滋潤的，刻薄諷刺也恰到好處沒讓人煩。。角色都是戲劇圈人，有大量戲劇引用，我隻聽齣miss julie就已經很親切瞭，然後意識到其實已經不記得miss julie講瞭啥，隻記得當時看得挺爽，嗯仍然幻想著能在三百歲生日那天翻開瑞典語版。。
