How is globalization changing both society and the media? De-Westernizing Media Studies brings together leading media critics from around the world to address central questions in the study of the media, breaking away from the narrow Anglo-American perspective that has dominated media studies. In a series of case studies from Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia, the contributors explore relationships between media, power and society in a variety of regional and national contexts, and the effects of globalization. They also confront the limitations of conventional theories on media and globalization in understanding these relationships.
