现代性，媒体，食品文化，去地域化，世界人等等概念都是非常有意思的。只是很多时候为了凸显地方性的重要忽视了地方与全球之间的张力关系。同时，很多例子还是偏西方化的。对其他地区经验的缺乏是本书的一大弱点。
评分Quite abstruse and abstract at first but easier in the following chapters. Got deeper understanding when reading again.
评分Globaliation as complex connectivity (vs. simply increased mobility), explained as consequencies of modernity within Giddens' framework (insitutional changes + changes in our experience with some ontolgical categories) + a good cultural analytical framework + sophisticated language (half of my class didn't like it).
评分逻辑很清晰谨慎，而且对2000之前关于globalization和modernity的主要理论都有总结和评论，读完再读其他globalization studies的书会觉得很易懂。对去地域化的论述比较出彩，可惜的是没有对reterritorializaiton作更为dialectical的解读。
