Mark Sarnecki was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where he received his early musical training. He continued his studies in piano at the University of Alberta, the University of Manitoba, The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and Mannes College of Music in New York City.
Mark Sarnecki has studied theory extensively in New York both at Mannes College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music where his studies included jazz theory and arranging. He is the recipient of a number of scholarships in Canada and the United States and has performed in these countries in both solo and chamber recitals.
Active as a clinician and performer, Mark Sarnecki is the author of numerous books on music theory including Elementary Music Theory and Elementary Music Rudiments.
