This book provides a systematic exposition of mathematical economics, presenting and surveying existing theories and showing ways in which they can be extended. 本来以为挺难了，买了后一翻，直接退了，大部分就是纯数学，而且内容又简单，就是大学的高数，概率论，线代。而且并未把数学与经济联系的特紧密，比如分析某个模型的数学理论，我当时是冲着这个想法买的，买完了发现还不如看数学三。

really cannot find a substitute for it so far. Varian is too conclusive. MWG is a modern extension to Takayama's, but very often too extended to retain focus. However it helps a lot if one read Takayama's first and catch up with the current state with MWG
