In 1871, the city of Chicago was almost entirely destroyed by what became known as The Great Fire. Thirty-five years later, San Francisco lay in smoldering ruins after the catastrophic earthquake of 1906. 並不是很故意的讀的，但是書的內容略齣乎意料其實。一來，比較著重於“災後”這個情況下的“韌性”，和廣義的韌性還是有點差異，（貌似這也是比較早的書瞭）；二來，齣奇滴好看，233主要是曆史研究比較多，讀來有意思。不過我主要讀瞭頭和尾，加上華盛頓戰後、唐山震後兩篇。城市的恢復，是物質上的也是一種對城市的和人的信念。是一種目的，也是一種手段。
