Melodrama演化成宗教神权式微、世俗化程度加深的历史背景下对重新建构新的伦理道德的一种想象和艺术形式。对Melodrama与历史时空的对话以及特征分析讲的很清晰。很喜欢作者对Melodrama中体现的表征与指涉、艺术形式的“过剩”与道德议题的“隐晦甚至虚空”之间的张力的论述。但把Melodrama从戏剧类型延伸到小说模式时，有的分析似乎有些过于发散。
