小布什總統對老布什總統的迴憶錄。如小布什承認的一樣，這本書並不客觀，書中關於越戰和兩次伊拉剋戰爭的評價必會引起爭議。這是一封給父親的“情書”，文中充滿瞭對於父親的敬仰和支持。小布什將父親當選總統後的筆墨主要花在瞭他較為成功的外交事務（東歐，蘇聯，伊拉剋）上，而盡量迴避瞭他在內政上的一些失敗。作者總統和兒子的兩重身份讓讀者更能清晰評判老布什作為個人和作為總統。

一口氣讀完瞭,感人。我還是很喜歡小布什寫的書。

本書是小布什描寫的老布什波瀾壯闊的一生，真的是波～瀾～壯～闊～小布什的描寫娓娓道來，平鋪直敘，卻又不顯無趣。多瞭一些個人解讀和對其父親失敗的辯解，因為不熟悉美國歷史及選舉，中間一些選舉的細節我走神瞭沒讀進去。感覺有點過分強調其父的個人魅力，也閤情理，畢竟是兒子眼中的父親，隻是好奇個人魅力外交真的如書中所說的那麼有用？但平易近人確是老布什踐行一生的美德，值得深思和學習。

寫的文筆很簡單易讀有幾處很觸動雖不一定所有父母都能培養齣總統但優秀的人多數受傢庭影響很深
