小布什總統對老布什總統的迴憶錄。如小布什承認的一樣，這本書並不客觀，書中關於越戰和兩次伊拉剋戰爭的評價必會引起爭議。這是一封給父親的“情書”，文中充滿瞭對於父親的敬仰和支持。小布什將父親當選總統後的筆墨主要花在瞭他較為成功的外交事務（東歐，蘇聯，伊拉剋）上，而盡量迴避瞭他在內政上的一些失敗。作者總統和兒子的兩重身份讓讀者更能清晰評判老布什作為個人和作為總統。
评分寫的文筆很簡單易讀 有幾處很觸動 雖不一定所有父母都能培養齣總統 但優秀的人多數受傢庭影響很深
