作品首次創作於1978年，裏麵鮮活的人物今天讀起來也不過時，在三藩市這個大熔爐裏，我們看到瞭各式各樣的人物，在這個都市裏演繹著自己的生活，有點大城小事的感覺。不過歸根結底我們會發現每個人都是在追尋自己的幸福和那份愛。
