厉害，本质上是一个很简单的家访找凶手的故事，但在各种副线交叉推进下剧情竟然非常流畅，基本第四章死人之后就停不下来了，结尾几个爆梗迷之联想到亲王，希望尽快影视化。用词简单看起来很快，各种景物生僻词脑补个大概全跳过去，说实话有点对不起作者这么细致的考究（出中文版再看一遍好了）。作者貌似不是专业研究者，所以出现了很多低级错误比如县令直接提拔进京，称呼皇上康熙之类，另外是我看漏了还是为了照顾外国读者没给角色们起表字，cousin来cousin去瞬间出戏

很喜欢，可能是因为外国人用英文写中国的事情增加了一种亲切感。案件很有意思，推理也不错。

作為作者的第一部小說還是不錯，但是感覺對中國文化歷史的了解並不是很到位。懸疑推理鋪墊不夠，很多揭曉答案很唐突。

布景颇具张力：康熙年间云南边陲小镇/反清复明势力/东西冲突/耶稣会与多明我会的矛盾/中央与地方/官员与流放学者……而且每个设置基本都用上了，外国作家写到这份儿上真不容易。虽然plot没有非常出彩但故事讲得蛮好看！我挺喜欢结局之际那种幻灭感。书里有个类似吟游诗人的角色，很亮眼，他讲的小故事都好玩，其中有个迷你推理，故事中以杀戮登上苏丹之位的王者得到了一句谏言：Rule well, oh Sultan, and do not let the beginning of your rule define its course. 噢…… ps 全书过半读到男主表亲居然从来没想过这个阴谋可能是针对他的????作为一个官场摸爬滚打多年一心进京的人居然一点政治嗅觉都没有，感觉他还是安心当个小官比较好????

Elsa Hart was born in Rome, Italy, but her earliest memories are of Moscow, where her family lived until 1991. Since then she has lived in the Czech Republic, the U.S.A., and China. She earned a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. She wrote Jade Dragon Mountain in Lijiang, the city formerly known as Dayan. It is her first novel.
