應該是比較早反思美國20世紀初社會效率運動給學校組織留下的遺産的著作，今天主要讀瞭和博比特有關的部分，將來還要重讀。在Callahn看來，博比特太樂觀瞭，將學校教育簡單地比附於工廠流程和當日桑代剋的實驗心理學上，後來拉格曼的論述也持這一觀點。我部分認同這個批評。
