Weber captured something unique amid a particular age, and the insights in this book were just the beginning of his theory. His critics mostly missed the point and the book was destined to be misunderstood. Many of the misunderstandings today were generated thanks to his critics. A must read, but Weber never intended it to become a best-seller.

為什麼我每次說call of duty都會有人笑……

終於明白新教各個分支的關係和中心瞭...從此告彆宗教盲。韋伯有點好笑，前麵一直try to be neutral憋著忍著，最後幾頁終於忍不住瞭，順應曆史洪流的悲觀感一瀉韆裏。不知道那些批判韋伯神化資本主義的人哪兒來的底氣，韋伯字裏行間並沒有為資本主義辯護的意思，尤其是最後對體製的悲觀。

How insightful! yet from this ethic, a system of capitalism emerged and no longer required ascetic values to sustain itself. These values became the capitalist spirit, and now we are all forced to follow them. 配閤著盧梭麥金太爾一起閱讀愈發覺得現代性中對self evident truth and moralities相當不友好，我們的精神何處落腳呢？I wonder
