前四章分彆討論瞭蘇韶、招魂葬、郭翻/辛玄子,及陶科鬥諸事中所反映的生者-死者關係及其邏輯,讓人驚訝於作者對《真誥》研讀之細膩。第五章突然涉及靈寶經,迅速將此前略顯細碎的論述置於一絕大問題意識的框架之中。兩相對比,顯然可見靈寶經撰作之特色、動機與意旨。由此對非佛教文獻的解讀,而探討佛教教義傳播之具相,即道教的“重生”觀念非為佛教強加之影響,而是靈寶派有意識地對此觀念進行融攝、改造之結果。
