30 case studies that have been constructed from survey data sup-
plied by real teachers about their "most troublesome" or "most
enduring" teaching situations. The book is designed for any course
that has as one of its goals the application of psychological or
instructional theory to the practical problems of teaching. Its cen-
tral theme is that decision-making is the ultimate teaching skill and
must be consciously taught. Consequently, the cases are organized
into the following five decision areas: (I) curriculum, (2) instruction,
(3) group motivation and discipline, (4) pupil adjustment, and (5)
conditions of work.
