IKE previous editions, the fourth edition of ABC s of Electron-
ics is a simple, easy-to-follow text devoted entirely to the fun-
damentals of electronics and electronic applications. Every
possible effort has been made to avoid highly technical concepts
and mathematical terms. The
the use of simple language
everyone.
subjects presented are enhanced by
and analogies familiar to almost
Detailed discussion of atomic structure and current carriers--
the electrons and the holes--and their role in electricity is in-
cluded. The electric and magnetic forces producing current, and
the various forms of opposition and effects encountered by that
current are covered.
In the previous edition, electron tubes were given only brief
mention, but with extended use of microwave and electronic dis-
play equipment, the fourth edition has added discussion of these
tubes--this required somewhat greater coverage of the magnetron
and cathode-ray tubes. Much of the material on transistors and
integrated circuits has been retained as fundamental to the under-
standing of modern electronics. Both the construction and the
operating principles of these solid-state devices are considered
with many simple, easy-to-follow illustrations. Explanations are
also made of the various circuits using transistors and other solid-
state devices. Some of the other subjects covered are as follows:
~ Electricity
~ Magnetism
~ Impedance
~ Electron tubes
