Too often, books written about medical subjects such as head-ache, focus on the bizarre, unconventional, or sensational aspectsof the subject. This factor will almost certainly increase thepopularity of the volume and probably will not benefit the reader. Most consumers of medical texts are seeking help in their particu-lar illness or for a disorder affecting a family member. They alsorequire information that may help them adequately cope withtheir problem. Unfortunately with headache and pain problems, the "miracle cure" cannot be found in the pages of any onevolume. There are thousands of causes for headaches, and just asmany, if not more, ways of treating the headaches. A book suchas this cannot offer the illumination or rapid extinction of cepha-lalgia but it can present a comprehensive method of diagnosingthe problem with suggestions on management of the headache. In the twenty years I have devoted to the diagnosis and man-agement of headache, I have read, reviewed, and rejected manypublications because of their prejudicial and illogical natures.
