BWill the SunCome OutTomorrow?y the time I was thirteen, I had it all.I had just finished a year's run in the title role ofAnnie on Broadway and was flush with theexcitement of success. In the two years since Annie had opened with a galapreview at the Kennedy Center in Washington, I hadbeen riding the crest of a wave. I had started out in theshow as Kate, one of the six orphans who lived withAnnie in the orphanage run by mean Miss Hannigan. Buteven though my role was relatively minor, the opportu-nity to be in a hit show was a heady experience. In Wash-ington we were treated like royalty. We performed at theWhite House and later were invited back to 1600 Pennsyl-vania Avenue a few times for some offstage play withAmy Carter. But for me, that was just the beginning.
