Lake Hellandgone, Vis. Welcome to the wonderful
world of the Scandinavians, an enchanted people
whose history is filled with romantic tales of bold
Vikings and pagan gods.., of warriors whose ex-
ploits have been preserved in sagas passed on
through the ages.
Now, in the late Twentieth Century, we have mil-
lions of Viking descendants named Olson, Johnson
and Hanson, and all sorts of Nordic flavored
names that indicate a connection with the Vikings
of old who fascinated the world with their daring
deeds.
Today s Vikings are more likely to become mer-
chants and lawyers.., or fellows like Hjalmer
Tungesvik, president of the Sons of Norway chapter
out here in Lake Hellandgone, which is located a
quarter mile south of Resume Speed, between
Coon Valley and Mount Iloreb. Out here we have
Norwegians "thicker than flies around a crockful
of Gammelost."
A few Swedes got in after World War One, but we let
them in the Sons of Norway irregardless. They get
