Elite athletes and their trainers are constantly attempting to fine tune performance. One hundreth of a second or an extra millimetre can make a huge difference to world rankings. The international Eurathlon Symposium 'Science in Elite Sport', held in March 1998, brought together experts from around the world with the aim of furthering collaboration between athletes and scientists working in the field of training in sport.
