此書已經有瞭中譯本，但不知譯得如何。當當網是把此書當成一本建築材料物理學的書來介紹的。而真實的內容，是一群建築史學傢在討論石頭作為材料，之於現代建築的價值、意義、挑戰。第一位作者是密斯的傳記人，然後就是吉迪翁的秘書的文章。。。。明顯偏重對於石材的實在屬性而不是什麼去物質性的研究。。。。起碼，原著是好書。

For international architects such as Michael Graves, Frank O. Gehry, Mario Botta or Richard Meier, this diverse material plays a major role. This publication examines the use of stone in contemporary architecture, drawing also on the work and experience of such great predecessors as Semper or HAger. In thematic chapters, it presents the state of the art. The emphasis of the book is laid on the many different kinds of natural stone, which come from a wide range of countries. Further chapters elucidate innovative applications of concrete and bricks, also illustrated by international examples.
