奇瑪曼達•恩戈茲•阿迪契1977年齣生於尼日利亞南部城市埃努古，父親是統計學教授，母親是大學教務。阿迪契起初在尼日利亞大學學習醫藥學，後轉至美國，在東康涅狄格州立大學學習傳媒學和政治學，之後在約翰•霍普金斯大學獲得創意寫作的文學碩士學位。
阿迪契寫過詩歌和劇本，並時有短篇小說在文學雜誌上發錶，多次獲奬。2003年，她的首部長篇小說《紫色木槿》（Purple Hibiscus）齣版，故事以一個15歲孩子的視角，講述瞭20世紀90年代尼日利亞的政治騷亂。小說入圍2004年橘子小說奬，並獲2005年英聯邦作傢奬。她的第二部長篇小說《半輪黃日》（Half of a Yellow Sun），講述的是尼日利亞內戰爆發之前和期間的事。小說獲2007年橘子小說奬。2010年，阿迪契入選《紐約客》評齣的“二十位四十歲以下的小說傢”。

The only flaw, if I may, is that there’s too much Adichie in her characters at times. In other words, her characters don’t seem to enjoy full liberty to be themselves, to express their extensive range of emotions and deliberations, or to explore possibilities when mired in predicaments.
