The Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage project locates, recovers from perishing, and publishes single titles and collections of primary literary sources written by Hispanics in the geographic area that is now the United States from the colonial period to 1960. Many of the folklore-based stories in this volume were published by Gonzalez in periodicals from the 1920s through the 1940s.
