The first edition of this book was a “first” in the field as it provided information on drugs, cosmeceuticals, and procedures in evidence-based, scientific manner while still being an easy-to-read, practical reference.

The book begins with the anatomy and physiology of skin and skin conditions such as aging, dry and sensitive skin, and skin diseases such as acne. The next section covers cosmetic agents used for antiaging, exfoliating, moisturizing, sun protection, and antioxidants. Cosmetic procedures follow with an emphasis on selected non-invasive procedures that can be performed in an office setting. The book ends with a chapter on the psychosocial aspects of cosmetic dermatology. All of the very latest drugs and topical agents are discussed including retinoids, moisturizing agents, antioxidants and depigmenting agents. Cosmetic procedures covered include soft tissue augmentation, chemical peel and hair removal methods and there is a chapter comparing cosmetic agents with drugs. Throughout the book, evidence is provided whenever it is available.

In the new edition, there is increased coverage of laser treatments, varicose veins, and cosmeceuticals, reflecting the areas in which new information has become available. All chapters have been thoroughly updated, and more clinical images have been added to every chapter, bringing the total number of illustrations from ~300 to 450.
