A visit to the city sparks the question, "Where does all this come from?" As Poppy guides Allie and her classmates through many scenic walkways along The Grand Concourse and The East Coast Trails, the children learn of the negative impact we are having on these environmental treasures. Allie and her classmates begin to explore and learn practical ways in which they can become environmentally responsible citizens. Through the art of traditional Newfoundland rug hooking, Allie and her class create colorful images of the beauty they work to preserve and sustain for others to discover. Lori Lane lives in St. John's with her family; Aprille, William, Patrick and Ick, the cat, and still enjoys knitting, sewing and quilting. Kathy Winsor lives in St. John's with her son, Benjamin. As a primary teacher she enjoys writing stories or poems to enhance lessons.
