强调诗歌的结构

P.234-235 At Melville’s Tomb 提供了Crane与Harriet Monroe的信件。Crane赋予诗人一个新角色，批评者。他有选择地回答了Monroe对于本诗不甚理解的问题。Brooks将这首诗与莎士比亚Cleopatra’s Lament, V, ii 联系，指出两者都存在的“the violation of logic”（Crane自己提出“the logic of metaphor”），意象上的不连续更能体现出情感的激烈。两点启示：一，读者不必将诗歌中无关的元素硬生生整合成一个意象；二，并非所有的意象都可视化。

内容浅显，但是贵在侧重文本分析，让诗歌回归诗歌本身。 可以让中国传统英语文学教学模式下的读者，学到一种新的真正的理解分析和欣赏诗歌的角度。 比较适合英语专业高年级或者研究生低年级。
