主角像麵鏡子，映射齣一個蒼白的自己。天氣陰沉、與世隔絕的寄宿高中，敏感、迷茫又懷抱文學夢想的青春少年，令人費解、百無聊賴的日常生活；錯過的Robert Frost、失去的Ayn Rand、沒能等到的Ernest Hemingway……之後，情節急轉直下。少年離開學校，走入曾經夢寐以求的紐約，但是以和預料截然不同的方式。看似散亂的故事交織一起，勾勒齣某個遙幻而虛弱的世界。

Great book! There are a lot of themes in this book. It's a book of self recognition and understanding. The author start to realize the essence of writing and life---compassion, real feeling, even sacrifice if necessary.Hemingway is the type of writer he is admiring.

封麵太糟糕，導緻我一度很不情願讀這本書……好看！不管是對美國寄宿高中還是認知自我與對文學及其附屬品的追尋的描寫都細膩又引人入勝，又讓我不自覺地稍微和自己做瞭下比較。書中可以看齣作者對某些作傢的喜惡，對沒看過Ayn Rand的我來說真不知是喜是憂。
