The author considers the drama "a plea to all sides to dispel cultural and sexual misperception", but in fact, instead of facilitating the elimination of prejudice, it apparently accomplishes the opposite to some extent for Chinese in it are still stereotyped. There's no doubt though it's a fine work to study the writing of Chinese Americans.

大概是第一次看戲劇(還是英文原版)會如此入迷…好想收藏到原版書。涉及到東西方不同的種族偏見以及性彆上的差異與認同,基於<蝴蝶夫人>的更加有力的反諷,大快人心又情淒意切 ..笑Gallimard的"愚蠢"也悲他的"固執",依然印證瞭那句深情即是一樁悲劇必得以死來句讀
