這是一本“一半海水、一半火焰”的專著。關於社會結構與空間結構的對應關係，關於法國中世紀自然村落的聚閤規則，關於空間層次在入口上施加的社會控製，這本書捅破瞭“窗戶紙”；另一半，也跟前者有關，作者試圖發明一套能夠計算拓撲圖形的控製度的數學法則，這就相當於將曆史簡化成為抽象公式、將社會和現象空間簡化成為邏輯理性那麼“天真”和“危險”。果然，這一部分今天看，很失敗。

From this general theory, the outline of a 'pathology of modern urbanism' in today's social context is developed.
