Creative Island looks at the extraordinary range and quality of recent British design, including work from all design disciplines--from architecture and engineering to advertising, typography and identity, through product design and furniture design as well as many others. Showing over 100 projects from the last few years, for each one there is a brief biography of the designer involved, together with his or her own story about the design process and their comments on the resulting work.
The book is organized into a number of thematic chapters, starting with Reflections and then Renewal, which look at the ways contemporary designers have built upon the earlier design heritage or reinvigorated established designs, and ending with Projections, which looks at visionary new design ideas that have yet to be realised. The wide range of material in the book and the diversity of media are linked together to show how much cross-fertilization exists between the various creative activities and the wealth of inventiveness that exists at this time.
