写得真扎实……然而读完基本就对英国文化研究失去兴趣了，比我想象的还要无趣一点。这本书也可以解释二十世纪英国学界的一些特点，比如对英国本土性的坚守、强硬的经验主义立场、文化同政党政治的合流、对大陆理论的疏远等等。阿诺德的精英主义式“文化”概念一旦得到移植和泛化，就让文化变成了收纳各种方法流派的大杂烩，最终造成如今文化研究领域社会学（民族志）、文本分析（编码-解码）、传媒学（接受方法）三分天下的状态。
评分总算把伯明翰学派的发展脉络搞清楚了，虽然没有法兰克福那么精彩纷呈，但也算是文化研究的一个支柱了，本书写的通俗易懂，节奏明快，很容易读下去
