His tale begins as an distinguished student from a non pretentious bourgeois, English speaking home (this proves problematic in the future as Lee makes his way around the Chinese speaking communities)...

前段时间看了李光耀回忆录的上集（风雨独立路），讲的是新加坡独立之前的事情，本集说的是之后到现在这段时间的事情，其实，新加坡真正关于发展的历史，还是在这段时间里（就像中国的改革开放以后吧）。这本书的确如李光耀自己所说，现在有很多教人的书，但是很少有真正教...

挺真实的。第一遍是浏览了全书。给我的印象是：一个机会主义者、现实主义者、谋略家及政治家。开篇就是写的彷徨和不安而非丰功伟业。最值得读的一章我推荐青少年时代，那经历叫一个起落坎坷。写自己的父母亲和祖父，直言自己的态度。写英军日军占领下的新加坡和自己的处...

小時候聽長輩閑談，隻知道新加坡的總理是中國人，其實並不對，Lee Kuan Yew更多地認為自己是Malaysian或者是Singaporian。我想Singapore與Malaysia，以及他們與Britain的關係並不是每個中國人都瞭解，我就不怎麼瞭解。我總感覺不少人認為國內的漢人要比南洋的優等。

如果說為什麼新加坡會讓大陸一次次的失望，從這本李光耀的迴憶錄可稍微見些端倪，首先呢，新加坡人就是新加坡人，雖然大多數人口的第二性是華人，但他們的國籍仍是新加坡人，這些人從19世紀中期開始，生活的不容易，為瞭生存而考慮，觀點當然不同，所以不是新加坡人讓我們失望瞭，而是我們期望太高瞭
