This is a skeptic's journey into the meaning of God and of human existence. At once an ironic rendering of the life of Christ and a beautiful novel, Saramago's tale has sparked intense discussion about the meaning of Christianity and the Church as an institution. Translated by Giovanni Pontiero.

也許是我讀過的最危險的,也是最有力量的一本書。
评分神不能放棄榮耀,所以必然殘忍。
评分Jesus and Satan were both created by God in a not so heavenly manner coz obviously even the Creator had to fight the decline of power. Amusingly and sarcastically fascinating. Plus, it was highly recommended to me by a secular, Israeli Jew. No wonder.

评分Aside from him being a nobel laureate. The female characters in the book all appear as these quiet and mysteriously wise existence. It's a bit too much of a male fantasy. Then, he is a bit too obvious a riot to the canon. Anyway I learned a few Christian history/culture, thx to him
