不夠中立，但補充瞭最近著迷的地中海文化的知識空白。前後很不錯，但中間靠後細碎地講某人的功德與生平，綫索不明，讀起來較掙紮。作為安德魯西亞度假讀物閤適不過。一細節有趣：1492後許諾的宗教自由並未被遵守，眾人假裝改教，於是吃什麼肉成瞭驗證法，這可能是西班牙多jamon的原因吧

评分考慮到作者本人多語言的文化背景和研究中世紀詩歌的履曆，本書行文不夠乾淨利落的情況還是比較讓人吃驚的：一是不少長句拖遝導緻論說重點不明確，二是有些關鍵詞用的頻率次數實在太多瞭。精彩之處在有兩個章節：1、從阿維森納穿梭到阿韋羅伊、邁濛尼德的個人曆史遭遇最後落腳阿奎納；2、對塞萬提斯的解讀非常有博爾赫斯短篇的韻味。
