Taken against the Arcadian backdrop of her woodland home in Virginia, Sally Mann's extraordinary, intimate photographs of her children--Emmett, Jessie, and Virginia--reveal truths that embody the individuality of her immediate family and ultimately take on a universal quality. This is the stuff of which Greek dramas are made: impatience, terror, self-discovery, self-doubt, pain, vulnerability, role-playing, and a sense of immortality, all of which converge in Sally Mann's astonishing photographs. A traveling exhibition of "Immediate Family," organized by Aperture, opened at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia in the fall of 1992.

评分本命摄影师！记录了下了人类幼子的样子。别再说我们的小孩子什么都不懂了，是应该我们这些不自觉地发育长大了的成人，要蹲下来去向我们种族中的孩子去学习，学习生命力、顽强、敏感。孩子们可能真的看不到自己样子，但作为一个健全的成人（成人也是个有着苛刻条件才能达成的状态呢，所以我们中的大部分都是巨婴，哇，简直灾难…><！），应该是要更懂如何保全作为人类的优点？
