断断续续看了好久，最后终于看到黑死病传播和蒙古帝国。突然不晓得应该有一种怎么样的情绪。其一，是正如作者说的：因为史料匮乏，它的病源至今依然没有定论，其二，是因为在作者看来，黑死病的爆发恰恰标志着一种中亚地区的统一“a single uniform disease structure” (406).

做了一点贡献。作者几乎穷尽了所有相关史料，尤其着重对史料形成过程的分析与辨证，对整个蒙古语伊斯兰世界的关系进行了精细的研究。几个重要的结论①史料中的叙述是有偏见的，需要进行参照比较，这是一个史料编纂学的问题；②蒙古征服、统治所带来的不仅仅是破坏，蒙古行政体系、语言、习惯等等有着长久的影响，最重要的是黄金家族的政治合法性与新族群的出现；③蒙古大汗皈依伊斯兰教或许更多的是出于统治的需要，但史料倾向于记录外在的表现，对大汗的心态无法说明，但伊斯兰化绝对不是由他们所主导的。
