科威特jarir書店購得，被第一句吸引瞭書的質量非常好，非常舒適，紙張厚度和觸感很美妙，和書裏的文字一樣美妙少年的思緒很豐滿，清晰，而不混亂夜晚的泰晤士河神秘奇幻，夜裏漂行的人更以何處為傢，隱藏瞭什麼樣的秘密？這是那種拿起來放不下的小說，很難講什麼吸引瞭你，也許是某一個人物的某一個動作，或者整體的暈染的氣氛，忽明忽暗，若隱若現，情感如此，不是親情的親情，似愛情的愛情。一個少年，能承擔的，也僅限如此吧，不能更多上半部迷幻，下半部懸疑+狗血，working mother,到底乾瞭啥，與felcon的過往沒有來由和邏輯，一個年輕母親偶遇少女時代的戀人並追隨他走上間諜之路，一個很不清晰的人物又被虛化瞭的房頂上的男人所掩蓋。結尾很無語，講Anges。這是warlight給人的印記吧

翁達傑的集成之作。開頭和第一部分是《貓桌》式的成長故事，然後故事突然斷裂，是《遙望》式的布局章法(姐弟之間其實也有“雙生”的趕腳)，同時引入《英國病人》式的間諜故事和男女激情，當然也少不瞭《身著獅皮》裏的藍領情懷。翁式人物的關鍵詞是anarchic, independent, disguised, scarred and solitary，翁式主題永遠都是in search of something。不過這本書裏故事敘述者的塑造太弱瞭，他敘述的對象都太傳奇太戲劇，把他的存在感給壓沒瞭。最後有種“珠箔飄燈獨自歸”的情調，但是這個人物最後的一個發現，如果在石黑一雄筆下會非常有分量，他執著於追尋什麼而忽視瞭什麼，悔之晚矣這樣一種感覺，或者莫迪亞諾《暗店街》式的縹緲迷離。不過翁達傑自有一種篤定堅持。

4 把二戰這個爛大街的題材玩齣新花樣不是易事，把視角放在追尋真相的少年身上，真正的主角是戰後處於迷霧夜色裡的英國。離Ondaatje最好的水平有一段距離，但還是足夠精彩細膩。Rose延續他筆下女主背負著神秘過去的歷史，在天空翱翔自由的Olive有點像Anil，反而男主角最後那個驚天秘密頗為狗血。

我還是最愛Part1。讀到中間段落其實內心裏已經有些明瞭瞭，翁達傑在Part1裏描述的十分動人，迷惘之下缺失且一直在尋找著的，不乏戰火中與能引起共情的相同缺失，但同時也是在獨有細膩之處串起種種片段。後麵偶爾感覺有些脫離，但讓我感受到並且沉迷於他的真切之處在於，尋找與迷失之下又不乏那對這世間即使毫無迴路之處的繾綣與留戀。
