"We all came to the powwow for different reasons. The messy, dangling threads of our lives got pulled into a braid--tied to the back of everything we'd been doing all along to get us here. Jacquie Red Feather is newly sober and trying to make it back to the family she left behind in shame in Oakland. Dene Oxendene is pulling his life together after his uncle's death and has come to work the powwow and to honor his uncle's memory. Edwin Black has come to find his true father. Thomas Frank has come to drum the Grand Entry. Opal Viola Victoria Bear Shield has come to watch her nephew Orvil Red Feather; Orvil has taught himself Indian dance through YouTube videos, and he has come to the Big Oakland Powwow to dance in public for the very first time. 一有时间就看，坐车等车睡前看，四天看完了。Tommy的文字运用能力真的很好啊！Dene记录下了这些不同人物的故事，叙述手法不一样才会有人称变化，就好像你拍电影都有不同手法叙述分段故事。人物也没那么多，手边突然想起的例子就是原来有个爆米花电影好像叫全城热恋，也是不同手...

我很意外这本书能让我读的放不下来，有点点缝隙时间都会拿起来kindle看几行，但是我不知道是不是本适合被推荐的书。整本书真的是真实的可怕。非常hit home，但是我觉得如果对native American文化没有近距离的了解过的话可能会很难产生共情。难能可贵的这个题材的好书。

第三本普利策奖获奖作品，一如既往地概念好，实施地差，能读完全靠忍。作者在为整个印第安土著群体发生，讲述他们族群的历史，伤痛，创作动机非常认可，可是小说本身，真的喜欢不起来啊……印第安人比黑人惨多了，现状也惨多了，依旧处在极其边缘的位置。小说中的每一个人，都过着fucked up 生活，我觉得这是他们的历史过往和当下的整体社会经济地位导致的结果。许多年轻的印第安人内里白化，可是棕红色的皮肤又阻碍他们进入白人主流社会，这境况比黑人惨。
